Abstract
Berwart’s research reader is designed for ideas still in motion. Rather than presenting intelligence as a closed answer, it asks how a system can become understandable through its visible behavior, its material context, and the choices it offers.
The question
What should someone be able to notice before they trust an intelligent system inside a world? The question does not begin with a model specification. It begins with an encounter: a change in light, a remembered path, a character response, or a new affordance that arrives at the right moment.
Prototype notes
Prototype the smallest felt behavior first. A useful experiment lets people observe the system, form a hypothesis, intervene, and recognize a consequence. The reader can later be extended with embedded images, citations, downloadable PDFs, or references to a project repository.
